After the success of Beatles: Rock Band it seems that the people at Harmonix/MTV are set to unleash a new band-centric title in teh hugely successful rhythm game franchise in the form of a full Green Day: Rock Band game scheduled for 2010.

The following statement has been released by MTV:

“This game will feel like a natural extension of Green Day and their music that will deepen the fans’ connection to the band and their history,” said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix Music Systems. “Fans will be able to enjoy some of the greatest songs from the Green Day catalogue in this standalone game or via Rock Band due to full export capability. We are thrilled to work with Green Day to revisit key moments from their career, including their likenesses, content and imagery, through our innovative form of musical interaction.”

Besides confirming a global release in 2010 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii, the the track list will be fully exportable, allowing you to play the songs or Rock Band 1 or 2. This exportable option is only for PS3 and Xbox 360, not Wii, however. ”

With the recent Green Day global takeover, it isn’t a surprise that one of the most successful and mainstream acts of the decade are to follow the Fab Four’s footsteps. Will you be buying the game or do you think that bands like Led Zeppelin should be first in line above the pop punks?

The just released teaser trailer for the game can be viewed above.

For a Summer blockbuster the size of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen you’re going to expect a soundtrack equally as massive, because let’s face it- anything next to Optimus Prime is going to look pretty lame. Leave it to Linkin Park to create a song that’s more than worthy of sharing the stage with our favourite Autobots. Check out the video to LP’s latest effort, “New Divide” above.

‘New Divide’ is already available as a single and the full Transformers 2 soundtrack, featuring Green Day, Taking Back Sunday and The All American Rejects is out on June 23rd.

Green Day’s “Know Your Enemy” Full-Length Video Online!

kye1

Green Day have posted the official video for new single “Know Your Enemy” online for your viewing appraisal.  Taking a step back from the over-blown epics that were the American Idiot single videos, this pop-punk/power-pop nugget is simply 3 minutes of Green Day playing on some sort of heavily guarded roof-top.

The single comes from heavily anticipated new album, 21st Century Breakdown which will be released worldwide on 15th May, with the current single being available from Itunes as we speak.
The good people at MTV.co.uk have the world exclusive of the new vid if you want to head on down and have a look for yourselves. We’re thinking that “Know Your Enemy” is one of those things in life that grows on you over-time like a good wine or mould. Whatever our first opinion you can be sure that the chorus will be successfully lodged in our heads for the next few days. We think the Green Day team should consider it a success, seeing as the world is going absolutely GD nuts at the moment. Give it a few days before the video is on every music channel/website/face of a small child all around the world.

So what do you think? Are you impressed with the single and the new sound of Green Day?

New Green Day single! Listen Here!

gd3

Berkeley Pop-Punkers Green Day have released the first full song off their new album “21st Century Breakdown” Listen to “Know Your Enemy” right now at Green Day Authority

A classic slice of what we’re accustomed to from the Punk legends, this addictive ditty bodes well for the album, out in May.

Green Day- Know Your Enemy 90 Second Clip!

Everyone’s favourite comeback kings, Green Day have been kind enough to preview 90 whole seconds of upcoming single, Know Your Enemy. The video (which you can view above) made its tv debut last night as the opener of the NCAA Championships. So if you’re a basketball punk fan then this is pretty much your dream come true.

The single is off the upcoming album, 21st Century Breakdown which hits your ears on Friday May 15th. The trio are riding the publicity and slowly but surely feeding the hungry public teasers of what’s to come- to keep ahead of the curve go to GreenDay.com and download their nifty little widget- which automatically updates itself with new vids, songs, lyrics and other tasty treats.

Thoughts on those 90 seconds? As promised it’s sounding like American Idiot‘s older power-pop cousin, with a little Foxboro Hot Tubs sprinkled on for good measure. If the first few seconds don’t sell it to you, wait until the middle. Want more? Us three.

Listen To Green Day’s “Know Your Enemy” Here!

A sneak preview of one of the most anticipated come-backs of the year is online for your viewing pleasure. Green Day have previewed a few seconds of upcoming single “Know Your Enemy” from their May-released new album, 21st Century Breakdown, on their Official Website GreenDay.com.

Despite only teasing us with a hint of the song, overall we’re thinking it’s a good sign of things to come. The clip is a little more Foxboro Hottubs-sounding (the trio’s 2008 garage-rock side project) than classic Green Day and certainly doesn’t pack a punch like the first glimpses of American Idiot did- but who are we to judge a preview anyway? We’re just glad the boys are making music that doesn’t sound like Kids In Glass Houses and can’t wait to hear more. Expect the full single May 15th.

What are your thoughts?

EDIT: A full 90 second teaser video of Know Your Enemy can be found RIGHT HERE.

The band have also released a new 21st Century Breakdown widget, which can be downloaded to Facebook, Myspace or any blog and will automatically update you with lovely new things like song and video previews, lyrics and tour dates.

Download this little piece of magic from here.

The full-length video for the new single is now available online, for the video head on over to the Full Post Here.

Reading and Leeds Lineup! And it’s terrible!

reading

Right, Fancore wants to play a game with you. Pick your ideal 2009 Reading lineup. Simples. Okay AC/DC, Blink 182 and Green Day or Kings of Leon, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys. Okay 3, 2, 1…yup, thought so. Sadly the Reading organisers didn’t agree with you.

So while the rest of us go to Download, Bloodstock and Sonisphere to see real music, the scarf and tie set will trot off looking smug as fuck to this celebration of all things NME. Check out the horror for yourself at THIS link.

Fuck it, at least Deftones will be there. Dear lord though. Fuck.

Mark Hoppus Says “Blink Aren’t Playing Reading/Leeds”

blink1Blink 182‘s Mark Hoppus has quashed rumours that the recently reformed band are booked for this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

In a recent Twitter update the singer/bassist said: “blink182 has not been confirmed for reading/leeds festivals. doesn’t mean it won’t happen. love those festivals. but we are not booked yet.”

British band Arctic Monkeys have already been announced as one of the headliners for the festivals, via Radio One this morning. Rumours for the other two range from Green Day to Radiohead.

The full line-up for the festivals will be announced tonight at 7pm and can be found here, the minute it all happens. We’re hoping that the festivals will offer more rock that the Arctic Monkeys can give us, but by the looks of some of the rumoured bands it might just be a shrine to the Indie bands who seem to be taking over the world, one cardigan at a time…

Green Day’s American Idiot Is A Musical!

gdtheatre

A Californian Theatre has announced that a musical version of Green Day‘s 2004 opus “American Idiot” will be making its stage debut this September.

The stage-production is a result of a collaboration between punk rock heroes Green Day and the Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer.

Berkeley Repertory Theater who are showing the musical through September and October have also announced that the show will include several new tracks from Green Day’s upcoming album 21st Century Breakdown.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had this to say: “We’d been thinking of bringing American Idiot to the stage, but knew we needed to find the right partners. After meeting Michael [Mayer] we knew we’d found the perfect collaborator. The end result will be terrific, and we’re really proud.”

Both parties have said that the production will be in keeping with the vision of the Grammy Award-winning album, which Director Michael Mayer described as “an articulation of their frustration, anger, longing for a better world—a journey from apathy to action.”

Berkeley Repertory Theatre have said that the play will: “follow working-class characters from the suburbs to the city to the Middle East, as they seek redemption in a world filled with frustration.” It’s an exhilarating journey borne along by Green Day’s electrifying songs.”

Tickets and further show details can be bought from the theatre’s Official Website.

We think more albums should make their way to the stage, as long as the poetic nature of the songs can be captured…we’re thinking Slayer‘s ‘Reign In Blood” is definitely a contender. Suggestions?
