In an interview with Metal-Rules.com, KISS frontman Paul Stanley has said that some of the band’s 80s and 90s back catalogue will be making its way into the upcoming Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour Set.
That noise you can hear is the sound of the KISS Army collectively dancing in celebration.
“Q: How about the 80/90’s material. There are lots of fans in Europe who are huge fans of the eighties and nineties KISS material. Will there be songs included from that period as well?
A: I’m sure “Crazy Nights” will be in the set and “God Gave Rock & Roll to You”. It’s really hard to cover everything from the beginning. So it means we have to leave out some songs. We can’t just keep adding songs. It’s great when people say “how about doing this one or that one” so ok then, what will be taken out of the show then?”

All at FANCORE our already pumping our fists in triumph at the possibility of hearing ‘Crazy Nights’ or ‘God Gave Rock & Roll To You’, but what about the rest of you? Do you want those in the setlist or do you have other ideas?
Anyone with a pair of ears, and a passion for rock will have heard KISS’ company line on Sonic Boom. For what seems like centuries, self-styled bass-demon Gene Simmons and velvet-voiced love-marksman Paul Stanley have extolled the “meat and potatoes” style of the upcoming album, boasting about it’s natural place in the pantheon of past glories Love Gun and Rock And Roll Over. Well paint me white and call me a Catman because the aging pyrotechnic-enthusiasts have pulled it off.
The newly-refurbished KISS juggernaut rolls into view with Modern Day Delilah. The stomping opener removes any doubt that the band would be forgoing modern bells and whistles, with not a hint of a vocoder disrupting Stanley’s trademark wail. Classic Paul bleeds effortlessly into classic Gene, with Russian Roulette featuring a godzilla-scaled chorus and bombastic if somewhat childish lyrics.
It is in this impressive vein that the album continues. Not everything meets the high watermark, Yes I Know (Nobody’s Perfect) is a serviceable but forgettable mid-pacer for example, but for a band whose form fluctuated so violently during their patchy 1980s run, this release is laudably consistent.
Never Enough is the finest song this band have written since the Revenge album seventeen years ago, a flawless ode to not being held down. The ideal soundtrack to those days spent clicking your pen and wanting to smack your boss and/or lecturer. I’m an Animal sees Simmons milk his Demon character for all it’s considerable worth with a metal-plated cut that sits comfortably in the God of Thunder/Unholy lexicon.
In the grandest KISS tradition, it isn’t just the Demon and the Starchild who step up to the microphone. On All for the Glory, drummer and current Catman Eric Singer turns in a driving rocker, his throaty croon adds an earthier shade to the band’s sound. Meanwhile lead guitarist and studio album debutant Tommy Thayer quietens the whispers accusing him of being simply a hired gun (or axe as the case may be) with an impressive effort. Evoking the 80s glam metal scene of which his own Black ‘N’ Blue were a part, When Lightning Strikes is a creditable piece.
There is only one way to end a KISS album, and that is with an Optimus Prime-sized anthem, in this case Say Yeah. Say yeah? If KISS are your bag you’ll be screaming it. If they aren’t, this album isn’t going to change your mind. If you’re the latter, take solace that it won’t be long before Gene Simmons endorses some earplugs.
‘Ello stranger! No we aren’t dead, yes we still like music and okay, fine we’ll keep writing about it for your pleasure. Where have we been? Well myself and Harley nodded off in a drunken stupor after Sonisphere and have woke up to find the site hasn’t been updated.
So screw it, we’re back and over the coming weeks and months we will be bringing hot shit such as a review of the new KISS album: Sonic Boom, an on-the-scene report from Enter Shikari levelling the Birmingham Academy and in November, a full 3-day rundown of the Hellfire Festival. We’ll also be the first and only place you need to be for the best rock, metal and punk news. Wanna read about AC/DC without skimming through the Kings of Leon articles? Then step through the doors my friends.
Fancore is back, and the revolution won’t be televised, but it will be blogged about.
The Hottest Band In The World, KISS, have posted the first promo shot of the band’s newly designed costumes.
The new costumes mark the band’s latest era, coinciding with the eagerly anticipated new album, Sonic Boom which unless you’ve been living underground for the past year, you will be well aware is the first release of new material in over a decade and can be yours from October 5th.
KISS will be rocking their updated threads on the current World Alive/35 tour which is making its way across the USA all the way into late December. For dates and to listen to the first single, ‘Modern Day Delilah’, head onto KissOnline.com.
Thoughts on the new costumes? We have to say that the small tweaks are a pleasant surprise, with Tommy Thayer’s lightning pants being particularly snazzy.
ex-KISS guitarist/Rock legend Ace Frehley has nailed down a release date for his long-awaited new album entitled “Anomaly” Space Ace’s new record will be released on September 15th. Frehley recently explained the direction the album would be taking to Billboard saying :
“Basically, I’m trying to get back into the mindset I was in when I did my first solo record [1978's 'Ace Frehley']. That record seemed to have all the elements everybody liked — a real cool instrumental, a hit single, some real heavy rockers, a nice variety of different genres of music”
As devoted KISS army soldiers, we here at Fancore can’t wait to hear what Ace can come up with on the new record. And with his former band’s new opus also set to drop in September, it will be a fine month for us black and white paint-wearers indeed.
KISS frontman Paul Stanley and bassist Gene Simmons have released some more snatches of info on the band’s first studio album in 11 years. The Starchild had this to say on Kissonline.
“We’re about four days from finishing the new KISS album. Eleven tracks, and it IS everything I’ve told you. It IS classic. It IS all written within the band. And IT ROCKS BIG TIME! Tommy and Eric both handle lead vocals. The songs, sound and playing will knock your socks off. You will all be as proud and excited as we all are. Oh…and WAIT till you see the cover! We ARE just getting started!”
Demon and reality TV star Gene added this today
headed off to the recording studio to do some vocals on the new KISS STUDIO ALBUM (we’ll tell you the title later).
Gene Simmons
Exciting stuff, this just might be Fancore’s most anticipated release of the year, tell us what you think!
Where we probe Rock gods with some rapid-fire queries. This month, ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick talks new album, playing Vegas and the Hottest Band in the World.
Bruce, How is the new album coming along?
BK: I am really proud of this CD. I want to do a total of 11 songs and I have only two more left to complete.
Do you think it lives up to a previous promise you made that it would be the best solo work of your career?
BK: I know this for a fact. The EP is getting amazing reviews from my fans.
You had Gene and Nick Simmons into the studio to work on tracks with you, how did that go?
BK: Amazing… working with Gene is always fun, but Nick was special as it certainly is a new thing for him. He did a great performance and his lyrics were perfect.
Are there any other collaborators on the album?
BK: Well my producer Jeremy Rubolino co-wrote the songs with me. Tobias Sammet from EDGUY co-wrote one as well.
You play with Union co-founder John Corabi in ESP, along with former Union collaborators Chuck Garric and Eric Singer. Is there any intention to perform or record together again as Union?
BK: No plans right now, but Corabi is on my BK3 disc.
Onto KISS, after 12 years in the band, what are your overwhelming feelings about that time in your career?
BK: It was a great experience. I loved meeting the KISS fans, and they are the best. I learned so much from Gene and Paul, and of course every year had its highlights with tours or recording.
What do you see as your finest contributions to KISS in terms of performances on record?
BK: REVENGE for sure. The acoustic solo in “Forever”. MTV unplugged… and some special solos on all the discs.
How did you feel when the reunion happened and you left the band in 1996? Did you feel the KISS lineup with yourself and Eric could have gone further or was the painted reunion necessary for the survival of the band?
BK: Well I had no choice but to “leave” the band. The reunion tour would go on and on. Economics made the reunion necessary.
You play in many different bands including ESP, your solo work, Grand Funk Railroad. What element of your career makes you happiest?
BK: My solo work is my biggest reward. Creating something people love. But of course playing guitar live, and making people feel my emotion on the guitar, that rules too!
– BK3 is scheduled for Summer 2009. Check out www.kulick.net for all things Bruce.

Sometimes, for reasons unknown, life comes together, producing something that is so awesome, so astonishingly spectacular that the only appropriate reaction apart from screaming “I-fucking-need-one-of-those” at the top of your lungs, is simply bowing down to the big guy and thanking him for being alive.
And by the big guy, you know we’re talking about Gene Simmons. Just when you thought that Gene and KISS had been plastered on every product in the world, from knives to babies to condoms (that sentence right there is enough to send me to hell), the KISS bassist presents you with exhibit A:
More unseen footage of The Hottest Band in the World; KISS, has surfaced. You may remember we brought you the story of rare Elder-era footage surfacing in support of a series of KISS memorabilia auctions. If you don’t remember then catch-up to the rest of the world HERE
Once again the footage has been released by eBayer eliteworks in support of more exciting KISS auctions, including letters signed by Gene Simmons, Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer. The videos include a “Creatures of the Night”-era news piece and two more gems plucked from the “Music From the Elder” press junket. Check out the clips ON YOUTUBE.
KISS frontman Paul Stanley graced Danny Bonaduce’s radio show this morning, where he spoke about the upcoming fan-routed KISS tour, his art gallery appearances and briefly about the newest KISS album.
The as-of-yet untitled new album has already been self-confirmed for a September release by Paul Stanley himself, who said in the new interview that the band are close to finished it. He also noted that the band’s recent effort is “as good [as], if not better than, some of the vintage” KISS records.
It’s certainly a bold claim! Not beyond them though. Do you have high hopes for the new album?
The full interview can be downloaded as an mp3 from This Location.
Former Armoured Saint and Judas Priest frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens has released a huge sounding slab of metal chaos over at his Myspace page. To hear some of the finest pipes in metal wailing over some shred guitars, get your bad selves over to www.myspace.com/timripperowens to hear “Starting Over”
The track is off his upcoming album “Play My Game” which is set top feature contributions from former KISS axeman Bruce Kulick, ex-Megadeth four-stringer Dave Ellefson and current Dio member Rudy Sarzo.
For the first time in almost 13 years, master tape footage of KISS during their ill-fated and short-lived “Elder” period has surfaced. The footage has been released by Eliteworks, an eBay seller currently auctioning a multitude of rare KISS merchandise from the personal collection of Curt Gooch, co-author of KISS Alive Forever. As well as this exclusive footage from the promotional tour of the much-derided album “Music from the Elder” (a closet Fancore favourite!), Eliteworks has also released unseen Australian tour footage and has many other rare KISS videos HERE. Elitework’s auctions can be found at this LINK
KISS are teaming up with social media company Eventful to allow fans the chance to vote for where they want the icons to play on their upcoming U.S and Canadian tour this September.
This is the first time that a band have ever allowed fans to dictate their tour dates, with everything from the size and location of the venues being left up to the fans. The announcement will be made later today via an official video from the band, at 8pm GMT/3pm EST from kissonline.com. Straight after the annoucement fans will be able to go to eventful.com/KISS and cast their vote to have their town included on KISS‘s 2009 North America tour.
Fans will be able to track their current tally of votes and check which cities are leading from the website, along with KISS’s official website, Facebook and MySpace. Voters will also have the opportunity to post online videos, appealing for their town’s residents to vote vote vote! The best of these viral videos will be showcased at concerts on huge-screens before each gig.
Speaking to Blabbermouth.net, Paul Stanley said: “No band has ever given their fans the power to decide what cities they play, and no fans deserve it more than ours. We’re leaving the next U.S. and Canadian tour up to the Army. When they stand up, they will be counted!”
Just for casting a vote, KISS fans will be given the chance to purchase pre-sale tickets to the shows before they go on general sale.
Proving that KISS have and always will be the fan’s band, Gene Simmons added: “KISS has never listened to critics-we have always listened only to the fans. It’s time to give back to the fans with bigger shows and longer set lists. And for the first time anywhere, we want our fans to tell us where they want us, and when.”U.S and Canada residents- will you be casting your vote? We’re very hopeful that this promotion will continue for the band’s future European tours and that the rest of the world will get to vote for KISS to play in their local towns, villages, living rooms… (source: Blabbermouth.net)
KISS‘s performance for over 65,000 fans at the sold-out Quilmes Rock Festival in Argentina can be viewed live in a webcast tonight from the good people at 10musica.com.
The concert is part of the icons’ South American leg of the KISS Alive/35 tour and will be webcast at 2:00am GMT/UMT and 9:00 p.m. EST/6:00p.m. PST.
The legendary band have also posted live videos from the current tour on their official website, check all of that and more at kissonline.com.
Also, reports from the opening night of the tour, which kicked off in Chile last night have shown frontman Paul Stanley sporting a partially new outift. Do you think a full costume overhaul would be a fresh look for the band? or don’t you like any fashion statements with your metal? Check out his spiffy new look above.
KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has revealed that a string of new KISS projects are in the works, including a new feature film, tv show and animated cartoon.
The Demon updated fans via his official website GeneSimmons.com: “We have a Financial Product we’re working on that’s shaping up to be (perhaps) the biggest venture we’ve ever undertaken. Can’t say more at this time. We’re also developing a NEW TV SHOW (soon to be announced) for Network. And, we are Producing a FILM that’s about to start shooting in the near future.”
Details on the film are scarce, with no current information as to the plot or who is involved. Although “we are producing a film” sounds very much like a brand-spanking new KISS feature to us. We’re hoping that it’s not a remake of KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park, 1978′s straight-t0-tv movie which is definitely under the “so awful it’s borderline genius” catergory.
The Demon also announced that the long-rumoured KISS cartoon is likely to go ahead: “Looks like there’s an ANIMATION DEAL that’s not too far from the finish line. If and when it’s done, it will enable us to fund and own our own animated cartoon show.”
Tentative details on Gene’s own long-awaited box set were also given: “[The] Gene Simmons box set (‘Alter Ego’) will probably see the light of day in the fall and (looks like) will contain 150 songs that have never been released.”
150 NEW SONGS? That’s more than most bands have, let alone ones that are just lying around waiting to be included in a box-set. We think this is just showing off how busy KISS really are. A new album, a current tour, a film, a cartoon? Is there anything they won’t give us loyal fans? Next they’ll be making KISS condoms…oh wait.
KISS vocalist/guitarist/Starchild Paul Stanley has just announced that the band’s new album will be with us by September.
Speaking to Brazillian website O DIA ONLINE, the frontman said: “It’s amazing, it will be the following of Destroyer and Love Gun, a classic KISS album. It will be out in September.”
SEPTEMBER? That is SIX MONTHS away! We could have a new KISS album in six months. The world will probably stop turning on the release day.
KISS bassist/vocalist/Demon/Product Whore Gene Simmons has only recently confirmed the release of the band’s first studio album since 1998′s Psycho Circus. He promised the new album will have a ”classic ’70s rock and roll vibe” and that the band have “nothing to prove to anybody. We’re not interested in musical trends or anything else.”
Finally, a band who aren’t so quick to lick the balls of the current music scene. KISS are looking to follow in the footsteps of AC/DC’s King Kong-sized comeback. Listen to the masses people, the fans want Rock and Fucking Roll.
The frontman didn’t give any more details about the release of the album, but we’ll keep you updated on every development of the album when we know. Check the whole interview out for yourself on the link above, only if you’re fluent in Portuguese though.
KISS icon Gene Simmons has suited up for a new Dr Pepper commercial with his not un-annoying son Nick. The Simmons men are extolling the virtues of Cherry Dr Pepper. It has a smooth taste apparently. Awesome.
